There have been huge advances in the last 2 years with home automation. It used to be something most of us would only ever dream of. With the launch of Apple iTouch, iPhone and iPad has developed a new way for home automation to be controlled. The Apple device has allowed the cost of systems to be reduced by thousands. No longer are dedicated touch screens required. Most of the big manufactures’ now have dedicated app available on the iTunes store. With 250 million units sold to date it’s easy to see why most of use maybe already have a device to control such a system.
Savant
Savant is just one of the manufactures’ we work with, they are huge in the US market are have recently moved into the UK market. Savants new system has been designed around the Apple platform so has seamless integration with Apple based products using an Apple Mac Mini as the heart of the system. A control processor then allows the iPad to integrated with your existing equipment using IR, serial or Ethernet to talk to all devices. By using the Apple iPad to control your system has helped bring the cost of installation down as some dedicated touch screen interfaces were extortionate. Remote control of your property has now just become even easier too, with WiFi and 3G connections its now possible to turn your hot tub on before you get home or even check the temperature in the pool.
Design
We work with a number of different manufactures to provide the best possible solution to the customer. Every installation company will have their own product the recommend. Every install and situation should be judged on its own merit and no decision made until you are happy with the possible controls and limits of each system. Design and installation as important as choosing the right manufacture.
